Testimonials

Joe has worked with us for more than a year now and it has been an absolute pleasure. Joe is nationally renowned as an expert on the needs of disabled LGBT+ young people. Joe worked with us on the SEND LGBT+ project which was hugely successful and impactful. As well as being an expert and a pleasure to work with, she is a totally lovely person with a real commitment to young LGBT+ people and their engagement and empowerment. I have so much respect and admiration for her work and for the support she has given us – and the change she has brought about at SAYiT.

Thanks again for all of your work last week. Our first Disabled Young Campaigners’ Residential Programme really was great, and you being there made the space feel really safe and welcoming for the young people. We will definitely be in touch again!

Thanks again for coming to do the session. Everyone was very positive about it afterwards, and saying how much they now want more training about this, and didn’t realise how much they didn’t know. Thank you!

We can’t thank you enough for all your support at the virtual Stonewall Youth Summit weekend, 2020!!! Your support before, during and after really made such a difference, both to us at Stonewall, and to the young people as well. You were absolutely amazing, and provided a really safe supportive environment for some of the more vulnerable young people, and you were so intuitive and observant of those who might need a check in. You really brought a calming force to what could have been an incredibly stressful weekend and it made such a massive difference.

I have the utmost respect for Joe both personally and professionally. Her commitment to equality and inclusion related to disability and LGBT+ intersectionality is invaluable to our work in Nottinghamshire, as is her commitment to anti-racism work in relation to pupils with SEND. Joe brings the same expertise to a cross-authority working party developing advice, guidance and resources for schools in respect of LGBT+ pupils and their families. She is a hard-working, conscientious individual who brings passion, enthusiasm and energy to everything she does. She is a hugely positive, and supportive person who is solution-focused and creative.

Working with Joe is always a pleasure as she is both knowledgeable and authentic and values-based. She inspires trust and confidence in others and leads by example, always giving the best of herself and setting high standards for herself and others. Her commitment is second to none and her person-centred approach to her work is evident in everything she does.

Joe is extremely good at building effective relationships and works with warmth, compassion and empathy. She is also not afraid to challenge where challenge is needed and shows courage in addressing situations that fall short of best practice. Joe has lots of ideas and is able to see things through to fruition. She is open to new learning and shows herself to be innovative and resilient, finding the positives in whatever situation she is confronted with. She is determined, sensitive and an excellent communicator and in my opinion would be an asset to any organisation she worked with.
